For Miner 2049er and Bounty Bob Strikes Back fans. It has its own emulator. Completely legal from the creators of the games. It is a self-contained program and works brilliantly

Try it!

I see Sega8bit got a mention on page one, but not SMSPower..

http://www.smspower.org/

SMS Power is a great site for all your SMS and GG needs, It has a good forum (not as good as sega8bit though) and loads of tecnical info. One of my fave parts of the site is the exstensive cover scans section. It's what got me into collecting variations, had a good time looking for and adding new scans that arnt on allready (still doing it)

An offshoot of SMSPower is Maxims World of stuff:

He has some great Master System programming lessons - click
and game maps - click

Can't believe TMR hasn't plugged yet, or maybe I've just missed it...

You can tell by all the links being given that there do not seem to be any sites dealing with retro PC gaming, when people tralk of 'retro machines' they do not mean 386 PC's or the DOS O/S, they mean MSX or Spectrum or C64.

Hundreds, if not thousands of great games were released on PC between 1990 and 2000, and not a single site seems to cover that decade of PC gaming. Sure, you have 'abandonware' sites with forums, but it's not the same thing. You also have sitese dedictated to a particular publisher or title, but there is no site, like Retrozone or GameBase for early PC gaming. That's such a shame, especially for a gamer that took a fairly popular route to PC gaming, via the Commodore 64 then the Amiga then the PC. A whole lot of gamers took that route, and whereas they can go to Commodore 64 sites like Lemon64, and they can go to Amiga sites, they cannot go to an early PC equivalent.

If I knew anything about web creation, I would start oen, but as long as I have to rely on someone else doing it, I am not sure it will happen.

And that's a shame, given that PC gaming seems to be on the decline compared to consoles and may only have a couple years left.

Have any been used yet? Still seems to be the usual suspects when listing websites of interest.

Anyway, here are a couple of others:

Stadium 64 - not been update for a while but there's probably not much left to add to the archive!
http://s64.emuunlim.com/

64 Animation - for all your avitar needs!
http://www.abc64.de/
The dry fart for Barry MacDermot and all the cancer patients in the Glamorgan testicle ward.

Can I add my own site?

Console Passion Retro Games

We sell games and machines for just about every console platform under the sun and have been around for the last 8 years. We also do lots of nice legal mods to allow your UK consoles to play all those lovely imports.

We've been featured in retro gamer plenty enough too over the years - there's some spanking pictures of me a few issues ago at Retro North looking all industrious with a soldering iron!

Eeh...Enter the Underdogs. Without a doubt the most comprehensive site for abandonware. Not only there's plenty of information about games, companies, developers etc. but you can also download most of these games.

I know...abandonware is a legally gray area, so no direct link to the site but it's definitely worth a look.

I quite enjoy that site. It's slower than myspace though. :(

Some of my favourites that I don't think have been listed yet...

The PC Engine Software Bible - http://www.pcengine.co.uk

A fairly comprehensive list of all PC-Engine games with reviews, screenshots, cover scans and music tracks from many of them. Apparently undergoing a massive revamp although it ahs been saying that for 11 months now!

Segagaga Domain - http://www.segagagadomain.com

Saturn, Dreamcast and Megadrive game lists with mini reviews, cover scans and videos.

Mobygames - http://www.mobygames.com

Massive game database covering most systems (including old PC games that according to some on here don't get any coverage on the web ;)) with screenshots, reviews and so on.

The Video Game Critic - http://www.videogamecritic.net

Hundreds of mini reviews of games from Atari 2600 to Playstation 3.
