I was going to give up on Falling skies once I'd got to the end of the season, then they threw something new into the mix in the final episode.

With high hopes and some great trailers, I've watched the first 3 episodes of season 2. Its still a snoozeathon.

Far too much human 'oh, but the children' and stereotyped good/bad guys having wussy catfights, not nearly enough alien blasting action.

If you've not been following it, don't feel like you missed out. If you were thinking about coming back for season 2, don't go in with great expectations it'll be any better than the first.

There's a lot of potential in the series as we've seen from things like Battlestar Galactica or Space:Above and Beyond, but its being wasted. Its more soap opera than sci fi.

Watched the first episode of Season 2 last night & it was just more of the same but I enjoyed it anyway. Like you say, there's potential.

Also started watching Blackout starring Christopher Eccleston. Can people really drink that much booze & function reasonably normally?

Yep, I watched the new episode of 'Falling Skies'(season 2) as well. It was okay, nothing to write home about though.

I then started watch the Danish crime drama 'Those Who Kill'. It has sort of elements of 'Cracker' to it. Pretty good so far. I have done two episodes.

I've had the complete boxset sitting beside my TV for the last 4 years, never seem to get round to watching it.

One of the best TV shows of all time, the dialogue is stunning and all the characters are superb. They were supposed the be doing a film/2 hour tv special to finish it off but it never got off the ground. C0cksuckers!

Yeah, Deadwood was a great series. HBO usually know how to do a good drama. I think all of the sets got pulled down before talks for the wrap-up film were due to start, and it was considered too expensive to rebuild them. Great that Ian McShane and Timothy Olyphant(of 'Justified' fame) were in this. You don't mess with Al! I had to get the DVD boxset to finish off the final two seasons(as the first one got repeated on TCM about a year ago).

Last night I watched an unusual film - Bob Fosse's 'All That Jazz'. Fosse directed 'Cabaret' and 'Lenny'. This film was sort of a biopic and music thrown into one. Semi-autobiographical(based on Fosse - who liked the ladies and pill popping). The first third of the film is a bit flat, but then it does pick up. It sort of about life imitating art and so on. A great performance from the late Roy Schneider, he sings and dances. Whilst, I wouldn't say that it was as good as 'Cabaret'(and it might be a bit too unusual for some people), it was an intriguing film to watch. To bad that he died before he had a chance to make 'Chicago'. That might have turned out very different from the one that was eventually made.

I then watched more of 'Those Who Kill'.

Just finished watching Raiders of the Lost Ark in HD on BBC1. Looked absolutely stunning, as well. So, looking on Play.com for when the set comes out on blu-ray, its the 8th October. AND.......Temple of Doom is fully uncut, apparently, making it more darker than we remember it.

I would love to buy it, but I can't honestly justify it (as much as I want to, though).

Temple of Doom is my favourite installment, I am seriously tempted to get this....Thing is, I already have the original box set on DVD and have the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull on Blu Ray. Looks like I'll have to sell them on to fund it :D

The Mothman Prophecy. It's an ok-ish film with a suitable level of tension. The finale manages to strike the right balance between tension and realism.

I also watched The Big Hit. I remember seeing it when it first appeared on Sky Movies and I wasn't impressed. The problem is I couldn't remember why so I decided to re-watch it. Now I remember. Aside from some entertaining stunts in the first "hit" scene, the film has nothing really going for it. Lame jokes, few action scenes, dodgy stereotypes... not really a recipe for success.

Polished off first disc of Highschool of the Dead; great stuff, liking the characters more and more though the school nurse damn nearly ruins it for me in some parts. Still, it's good to hear there's supposed to be another series on the way later this year in Japan. :o

Watching a few more eps of Gamecenter CX from the thread on this site. Good stuff.
