I just began watching Breaking Bad Season 5. The first four episodes were amazing, the series really keeps getting better and better.

On the movie side, I recently re-watched an Italian masterpiece from the seventies: Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Investigat ... _Suspicion).

Strongly recommended, as I consider it personally to be one of the true pinnacles of Italian filmaking.

Saw Dark Knight Rises today, I actually thought it was good, very predictable though, I called pretty much everything before I walked in. I'm not really sure what film I'd consider the best in the trilogy now, I never really paid much attention to Begins, and the second one I thought was great but now looking back on it I can certainly see how overrated it was. I don't think this latest one is worthy of the amount of praise it gets but it was good nonetheless.

The Last Rambo is rather like a remake of the second one but with more body parts. CGI has really upped the bloody gore.

Watched the end of season 2 of Breaking Bad last night. The ending was a bit stupid and only just relevant. Hope season 3 picks up a bit.

Also watched the latest Suits. Great show but is a bit like easy listening music, very light entertainment. Replaces White Collar nicely though as I got a little bored with that and haven't bothered with the latest season.

Watched the first episode of the second season of Franklin and Bash last night.

I like watching this when it's on but I could also easily not miss it if I didn't see it.

I love the Rambo series -

First Blood - great anti-war film - until the second half when it turns into a balls-out shoot em up! (Yes, the irony!)

Rambo 2 - great "behind enemy lines" style film.

Rambo 3 - not a patch on the other two, but decent enough. Especially love his thanks to the Taliban in the end credits. Keep up the good work fellas! I liked the computer game more.

Rambo 4 - loved it. Total overload and basically a rework of Rambo 2.

Yep, I love 'Breaking Bad'. Going a be a while before I see Season 5 though.

I'll checkout 'Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion' as well. I like Italian cinema(La Dolce Vita and Nights of Cabiria are favourites of mine).

Anyway, last night I watched more of 'The Newsroom'. Hmmm, I am thinking of dropping this, as it just isn't exciting me. Plus, I find a lot of the characters irritating.

I then watched more of 'Mid Morning Matters'. Great stuff, but then again I had seen them on YouTube before as well.

I then watched 'Red Sonja' with Arnie and Bridgette. It was an okay sword and sandals type flick. But Arnie has done better films.

Yep, Season 3 is very good. Season 4 however, takes it to a different level. One of the best pieces of TV I have ever seen. Can't wait for Season 5.

Anyway, last night I watched 'All Quiet on the Western Front'. If you can get over the fact that American actors are playing German soldiers, then it was a pretty good anti-war film. I watched the restored version(off of Sky Movies) and it was a pretty good job. There was a little grain, here and there and a few scratches. The soundtrack was a bit bad in the second half though, there was a lot of hiss.

I then watched 'Dead Calm' with Nicole Kidman, Billy Zane and Sam Neil. A pretty good thriller. I had seen it before. The seabound setting added to the atmosphere. It was strange seeing Billy Zane with hair though!

Saw Combat Shock/American Nightmares for the first time last night. Was quite impressed by it and can see the Taxi Driver and Eraserhead influances. It's definitely an aquired taste though.

Watched Black Swan last night.

Started off enjoying it but by the end I couldn't give a sh*t.

What about the lesbian bit in the middle of the film?

Last night I watched 'Ordinary People' directed by Robert Redford, and staring Mary Tyler Moore, Donald Sutherland and Timothy Hutton. I mainly watched it, to see what the film that beat 'Raging Bull' at the Oscars was like. It was a family drama. Okay, but nothing special. Moore and Hutton were very good in it.

Then it was on to more of Mr. Hitchcock's films. I started on the 'The Birds'. A quite strange film. If you think about it, it was the precursor to the effects blockbusters that we have today. The bird attack effects still hold up quite well(better than the rear projection used in Hitchcock's other films). Plus, the sound effects are well done. It still has some scary images in the film. I suppose the message of the film was that man can be destroyed by Mother Nature.

I then watched 'Rear Window'(the original, not the remake that I had seen a few weeks earlier). It was the restored version that aired on Film 4 last week. Beautifully restored. What is not to like about this film? Jimmy Stewart, the lovely Princess Grace(in those stunning dresses by Edith Head) and then all of those lovely neighbours. The use of ambient sound was great in this, as was the lens effects looking into other people's apartments. A great film about voyeurism and the media, which is still relevant today.

They're only good if you're a girl, since there's no room for a bloke in that scenario.

I couldn't even get that far. Sat down with Mrs Ant to watch it and we got half an hour in. Half an hour of drivel before it was switched off.

Finished off my Rocky-a-thon with Rocky Balboa. I had low expectations of this but it was a great series revival for what it was. I did a bit of looking around on the internet and found out that Stallone himself pushed the idea of the film through rather than it being another Hollywood cash-in on a classic franchise so that explains why it was decent.

Went to see Dark Knight Rises twice over the weekend. It is one of those films that is soooo easy to tear apart (what, no tidal wave???), but I still really enjoyed it. The only big disappointed is not getting to see the obvious sequel they have set up (until they get a bit hard up and return to it).
