More news on publishers expected shortly.

We will start releasing information on what will be in re.play very soon - you can expect more cabs, more pinballs, more consoles and more computers than our previous two shows!

I know it says it's too far in advance to know what titles they'll be bringing, but are there any hints they may be bringing the WiiU?

In all honesty, if we knew what they were bringing so far in advance (which we don't) we probably would have been asked to sign NDAs anyway. I will say Nintendo were very keen on exhibiting at the show and we expect they will be bringing a substantial display this year. As soon as we get further details we will let you know of course.

Yes it is good news and I am glad someone said that. While an increased presence from current gen publishers may not appeal to everyone on this particular forum, it ensures the show will be a success and will continue to grow as it has done over the past 3 years.

I also want to point out that we are equally busy working on the retro side of the event too, not just the now.play feature. Our re.play area is bigger than the entire space used at the Norbreck last year - that is the corridors, main hall and ballroom put together which makes this the largest retro event ever to take place in the UK. The amount of kit and features we will have for this zone will be significantly more than in previous years so please don't think that just because we are increasing the number of publishers it will be at the expense of the retro offerings.

Ticketline is the only way to purchase tickets Paul. With such a small team working on this event we absolutely had to outsource tickets this year as it takes up so much time to do ourselves or through local agents.

Just booked accomodation for this years show, used the old favourite Premier Inn. Had used the Prem Inn in Blackpool for the last 2 years so thought I'd continue the theme. Been getting a bit bewildered by some of the things in this thread but as usual thought I'd offer my own insights.
1. I think that keeping the cost down to £22 is fantastic. I've been to the previous 2 re-play events and was amazed that it stayed at £20 for those 2 years, so was expecting a bit of a hike this year, especially seeing as it's being held in such a major city. I think the organisers deserve a massive pat of the back. I've just had a few days in Skegness with the missus trying, and largely failing to find any arcade machines from back in the day. As it was we found a couple of pinball machines and TMNT 4 player. We went through about £20 in less than an hour so I'm more than happy to shell out £22 for 2 days and hundreds of machines and pinball tables.
2. I'm a massive retro fan so was initially a bit surprised by the direction the event seemed to be heading, i.e more current gen, cosplay etc, but the more I've read the forum the more convinced I am that this is going to be an absolutely fantastic event. Some people may have their retro noses slightly rubbed out of joint but I think by having a mix of genres/ages then people can try their hand at a bit of everything. I for one will quite happily jump from playing repton to pinball to halo to manic miner to dance dance revolution (maybe not the last one)!
3. Really cant wait to mix great video games with some great nights out. Blackpool was a good venue, despite some peoples protests, but beer was cheap and there were some good little rock venues if you looked for them, but Manchester is gonna be something else. I'm so looking forward to hitting the Guinness at the venue, playing some games, then hitting the town.
Apologies for the length of the message but I really am looking forward to this years event and my thanks go out to the organisers for all the hard work that they'll be putting into running this years Play Expo. See you there guys (see you in pinball alley SuperMario :)

Bit of a difference between asking if there was another way to buy tickets & whining about the cost of the tickets though.

I'm sure if you had have said "is there another way to buy the tickets?" you would have got a straight answer, I'm sure if Paul had have basically accused the organisers of ripping people off & gone on about events he's put together that were so much cheaper he'd have been given a short shift too.

You really shouldn't take things so personally.

You were acting quite aggressive and sarcastic though. Earlier on in this thread you were criticising the branding and the prices (which you have every right to do) and got an honest reply. However, you then continued to be critical, and the tone of your followup messages seemed to suggest you thought you knew better then the Play Expo organisers and they didn't know what they were doing.

Most people would probably not have a problem with you having your opinions, but if your written words come across as aggressive (whether deliberate or not) then I don't think it's unreasonable for people to get a little more defensive and aggressive (or indeed take the mickey as I did).
