Following a launch event at the exclusive Groucho club in London's Soho, we can confirm that Play Expo tickets are available now at http://www.playexpo.net.

Konami are the first publisher that we can announce and we will be adding more news of exhibitors and entertainment over the next few months.

Of course I'm going, it'll be awesome, just like Replay was, but ticketline are taking the censored.

£3.75 on top of the face price of the ticket for a '£2 booking fee' where I did all the 'work' (i.e. selecting the right ticket, and pressing BUY) myself on their website, then they have the audacity to add on a £1.75 charge for me printing the 'e-tickets' out myself - the only option!

I abandoned their site at that point so I don't know if they were going to hit me with a 'credit card' surcharge as well, but I wouldn't be surprised. I hate these profiteering ticket sites with all their non-optional 'hidden extras'.

The prospect of paying an additional 20% on top of the face price to price-gouging ticketline who add nothing whatsoever to the whole event, apart from running a crappy ticket website, sticks in the throat a bit.

Seriously, if you offer a way to buy the tickets at face value of £20, with no scammy ticketline extras, I'll paypal you £25 and you can give the £5 direct to charity.

Aye - a way to phone for tickets or something would be preferred, but whatever happens I'll be going!

So, looking at the Play Expo website, there are four main themes (retro/new/comps/cosplay), and looking at the Event City website - http://www.eventcity.co.uk/organiser-info/ - there are four areas of different sizes. Which one's going where? Tell me the big one is the retro area... go on :)

The team will review your comments and get back to you - k?

[MikeFishcake]
LOL - it's very unlikely that we'll be using ALL of the space at EventCity (at least not this year, heh!).

Of course, things are still up in the air regarding layout, however we do have a provisional floorplan at present (although this is likely to change several hundred times before the event!).

But just to give you an idea of current anticipated scale of re.play - the current allocated space is about the same size as the main hall in Blackpool but obviously this year, it will be 100% retro and arcade - as both the exhibition and Pro Gaming areas (which in my estimation took up 45% of the main hall at Replay 2011) are being "jettisoned" into now.play and pro.play respectively ... ;o)

Thanks for your support as always, Shaun! :)

Right, that £1.75 eTicket "fee" (which I didn't know anything about) is being dropped altogether.

The Ticketline website should be updated later today to reflect this.

Existing buyers will receive refunds on the £1.75 fee(s).

Obviously the 10% booking fee is still applicable.

Nice one, thanks for that!

I appreciate that the ticket distributors need to be paid, and I guess 10% commission is okay. The charge for printing your own ticket was just cheeky though, considering there was no other option.

Personally I'm surprised that the ticket price has stayed at £20, and reckon you could have bumped it up a bit, I wouldn't have had a problem with paying extra to the guys that actually run the event, just not profiteering ticket vendors!

Thanks for sorting that out so quickly, very much appreciated.

Thanks for your comments! :)

That nasty £1.75 fee should now be history, so if you want to give it another try ...
