Idea for feature

How about a feature about some of the amazing games that were released for the Amiga in the post-Commodore years.

Thousands of words have been written about ownership of the Amiga IP being bounced around from pillar to post (Commodore to Escom, Escom to Gateway, Gateway to Amiga Inc) but very little, if anything, has been written outside of the Amiga community about the games that were realesed during these turbulent years and the amazing efforts of companies like Vulcan software and ClickBOOM to keep the Amiga alive.

Few people are aware of the real gaming gems that were released during this period such as the real time strategy game Napalm, action adventure Wasted Dreams, first person shooter Genetic Species or Mario 64 clone (honestly!) Tales from Heaven.

The Amiga also played host to a number of PC and console conversions including Doom, Quake, WipeOut 2097, Heretic 2, Shogo and Myst.

I am sure there is plenty of material for a great feature.

Myself, I own 2x Amiga 500's, an Amiga 500+, an Amiga 600HD, 2x Amiga 1200's and an Amiga CD32. Still in talks with a mate for getting an Amiga 3000 though - I hope he will let me have it for a reasonable price.

Nice! Myself I only have an A500, an A500+, a CD32 and an A1200 which I have modified and upgraded numerous times over the years.

A couple of years back I considered upgrading to a fancy new AmigaOne but the rather hefty price put me off.

I've started using WinUAE alot more than my actual Amiga due to the convenience of it, but there's nothing like inviting a few mates round and firing up the Amiga for a few drunken games of SWOS.

A guy called Sven Harvey was selling them a few years ago through his Sven's Stellar Dreams website. However I don't think Eyetech produce them anymore.

There is some excitement in the community about 'Samantha' a PowerPC mainboard, which will be capable of running Amiga OS4 and may be a cheap alternative to shelling out for an AmigaOne. There is lots of info here:http://www.ppcnux.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=6665
