Agreed, a brand new game would be preferable, but I revisited the '91 remake last night and its aged a little. The main issue now is the lack of voice acting - that extra layer makes a huge difference to modern games of this type, it can really add layers of character that are missed on a purely text output. Add that to the improved artwork (which isn't a massive leap) and give it some clean, smooth animation and its a win. The old one suffers from the limited resources of the era. Its good, but there's plenty of room for improvement. Ideally they'll tidy it up so there's no impossible situatios or insta deaths.
