 Aye imagine getting wound up and over-reacting to something, some people are strange, eh?

The "over the top" Spectrum coverage has been a breath of fresh air for the mag after all the Nintendobollocks last year.

Good luck with your crusade though.

I'd say it gets its fair share. If theres one machine that doesn't get it's dues for what its worth, its the PC. As a platform its contribution to gaming alone (globally as well as nationally) far outstrips that of the Speccy, C64, MD, SNES etc. Sadly, for whatever reason, it apparently just doesn't sell RG.

Considering how popular the Vic 20 was around 1982-83, I'd say that it is the most under featured machine of all.

Yes, the Vic-20 deserves much more coverage. I think several non-retro machines have had more coverage that this, the first computer to sell over 1 million units.

I reckon Retrogamer is actually getting the balance about spot on these days actually....it's covering old stuff, but also has Future Classics and the occasional interview or article about something like oooh...Wipeout for instance....

Of course the Spectrum is going to be featured heavily in the last few issues..it's the 30th, and people who normally have no interest in Retrogaming are looking for stuff about what for many was their first introduction to gaming...The spectrum was trending at 6th place on Twitter today, when I last checked....

But yeah, Retrogamer should start doing more stuff about PS1, Dreamcast, N64, etc....and maybe looking at more coverage for things like the ST and other systems that it hasn't really had much about...but, it has started doing this! :)

People who complain about Future Classics, etc. have to realise that some of these games are almost 20 years old now, and for Retrogamer to keep going it will need to start bringing in slightly younger retrogamers...people in their twenties who grew up with Wipeout and Parappa The Rapper! If the mag can do this by putting the odd interview or article, whilst also not forgetting about the older kids who played Paperboy, then it can go on pretty much forever...which would be awesome!

Personally, I'm interested in reading about games from all the different eras...I like to find stuff out about 70's TV games, but I'm also looking for some obscure PS1 titles that were only released in America! As far as I see it, if you like half the magazine, it's still doing a pretty damn decent job of keeping you entertained for a fiver! If you don't want to read about something, just skip it...they'll probably have an article you like but most other people skip in the next issue! :)

It's worth noting regarding at least the interview aspects of RG, later systems tended to have teams working on games, and therefore it's tough to get enough people to agree to interviews to get a rounded history. This is even the case with some earlier games—my attempts to deal with some of the Games series on the C64 went nowhere, because people created individual events and couldn't talk about the productions as a whole; with later systems, this is increasingly the case.

Does a "making-of" that came out on multiple formats (including the speccy) count as a "Spectrum article"?

Okay, I usually defend when critiques come in about articles...how you can't please all the people all the time...But in this case IMO this is a fair point. There has been a little too much coverage of Speccy. I love the machine, and have enjoyed the features, but there's just been so many it is time to do some different machines :)

How is jet set f()cking willy so highly praised.. it is true baulderdash and piffle of the highest order.

By issue 150 RG will be conducting interviews with Clive Sinclair's postman, someone who did a day's work at rare making speccy game cassette cases, and then maybe a dog that strolled into the carpark of OCean software once in 1982. Maybe we can have have 1000 people's opinions on how amazing the games were back then while they masturbate furiously into a sock. We can look forward to a 300 page dissection of why Jet Set Willy is the greatest piece of art ever created by man while waving a walking stick at the sky shouting 'they don't make 'em like this anymore' before kneeling down on the pavement for a nap.

Okay, that's funny...and an article I'd like to see!
