Would have been a crossover period for me - not sure if i was still rocking the Speccy and NES, or had moved onto the SNES and my Game Gear.

Either way, I would have been having a grand old time with any of them, being 12/13 years old.

Here's the contents page from the Dec '92 issue of game zone (sorry about the size!)

Not a bad month for the SNES! Axelay, Super Star Wars, Parodius (although that was an import).

Here's the news page:

Again, the SNES was doing brilliantly. That top 10 chart is packed with classics. And, oh dear lord, there's that bloody Turbo Touch 360. I suppose in a very special way, Triax were ahead of their time. They discovered touch is censored for controllers decades before the iPhone came along  (I kid! I kid!)

Anyone try that Gameboy cake? I wouldn't be surprised if one turned up on eBay or something.

And finally, a hilarious censored-up from Duncan MacDonald (bet Mary Whitehouse took this well!)

More here.

I loved Game Zone, it was a brilliant magazine. I actually had so many Lynx tips & cheats printed in there I seem to remember that they called me their resident Lynx expert

Splitting into 2 mags (one for Sega and one for Nintendo leaving out NEC, SNK and Atari) was the worst thing they ever did.

Didn't Mean Machines pretty much do the same thing as well. :(

Yes but Mean Machines never ever had any Atari coverage, despite saying so on the cover, so the split made less difference. They did one special bookazine that had 2600, 7800 and Lynx in it which I owned and it was excellent.

That was a great year for gamers, I bought a SNES at launch, with F-Zero, and Super Tennis, and the games that Nintendo drip fed us through the year were largely superb, Super R-type came next, then Super Wrestlemania, Super Castlevania IV, and me being the impatient person I am, I bought a converter, and Pilotwings, Gradius 3, Contra 3, Top gear, and a few others.

Add to this games such as Dracula: Rondo of Blood and others on the PC Engine, some great Lynx and Gameboy games, still buying titles for the Spectrum and Atari ST, it was a busy time in my gaming world.

I had a Sega console in the form of a master system 1, but cannot remember if it was in use at the time.

And I really wanted a Megadrive for Sonic and Desert strike to name but two, eventually bought one I believe in 1994, but Desert Strike I bought on the SNES.

I was just making my first steps into gaming during 1992, being young I had a second hand C64 and huge box of games to play through, mainly remember hammering Barbarian and L.E.D Storm. Also, had a GameBoy, so I spent quiet a bit of time on Tetris and Bart Simpson: Escape From Camp Deadly. My Brother had an Atari ST, so I would often go round his house to play Sensible Soccer and Grand Prix.

Can remember GamesMaster being on TV and watching Wayne's World on VHS rented from the video shop,

LOL at Krusty Super Fun House I always thought that game was a joke, as somebody said it was like Lemmings but with a Clown that killed Kids .. Found out later it was a Simpsons game :D

I got all 12 issue's of Game Zone, very funny mag but very dry and found the Mega Man issue of Game Zone in work a month back and half inched it :D

To me 1992 I had a megadrive and a friend lent me Streets of Rage and Mickey Mouse for it.. I remember playing Streets of Rage up his house and was blown away, only had a C64 and C16 before them.. Me and my friend used to walk 4 miles to BP video to buy Jap Megdrive Games

That was around the time where I had been saving for months to buy a nes. I did not know the snes existed, nor would I have been able to afford one.
I bought the nes and as I recall Mario 3 was the game I bought with it, along with a sports game of some description.
After a while I sold the nintendo (I didn't know any better) and bought a sega genesis and sonic along with some other games, but sonic got the most play.
At the same time we had a C64 we shared as a family, with a bit box of games.
I remember some stoneage game, spy vs spy and an awesome robot puzzle game.

These memories are depressing me...in a good way. I think of all these memories, then I take a look at the 360 and PS3 under my HDTV and want to spit on them all LOL
