PC Help needed - power button came off.

Postby ChipTune on Sun Jun 03, 2012 1:00 pm

My PC has had no case on it for a while but works perfectly.. but yesterday I pulled the power switch (the little plastic clicker attached by two wires) and it snapped.. and also the little metals bit on the plastic clicker broke off when I tried to re-attach. Now I can't turn on my pc.

I tried wrapping the two wires to each other, and the machine powers up for 1 second then stops.. Im assuming it needs to be a one touch thing rather than permanently connected?

Can anyone offer any advice? I read online about starting it by touching both wires to a screwdriver to boot it up, but is this a dangerous thing? Is there any risk of electrocuting myself doing this ?

Just touch them together for a second or so, there's no chance of electrocuting yourself, at the most they only carry 12V DC, just make sure they don't touch the steel case especially if they carry a positive feed
