The new Disney film - about games!

Postby TwoHeadedBoy on Wed Jun 06, 2012 10:45 am

Essentially, it's looking like Who Framed Roger Rabbit only with videogame characters instead of cartoon characters.

It's called Wreck-It Ralph (and yep, it's another one of those CG films).

See!

Zangief and Chun-Li:

They've sort-of made a game to explain where the main character comes from:

From the looks of that main picture, it looks like the bit in Monsters, Inc. where they all go through different doors to get to different bedrooms, except these doors lead to different arcade machines.

Could be fun?

It holds promise since they're clearly looking at a fairly wide range of games historically with Q*bert and friends up front there and SFII people wandering about. Even if it turns out to be too childish like Monsters Inc, there could be some fun to be had playing 'spot the character'.

One to buy on DVD for me, though Disney doesn't tend to get discounted so much.

Is it just me, or does the lead character look alarmingly like a fleshtone Shrek?

Mmmm. It looks okay, but Disney's own animated output (as distinct from their distribution duties for Pixar and Ghibli) have been pretty poor recently. Probably worth a look just for the game references, though.

A lot of kids didn't get all the references in Shrek either. That's partly why it was so good, it had things that worked on several levels.

I remember reading about this a few weeks ago, seemed interesting at the time.

IGN have a trailer that includes Bowser, Dr Robotnik and a Pac-Man ghost.

Yeh pretty sure it is. He's sat in villains room with Bowser, Zangief, Dr. Robotnik/Eggman, Pacman Ghost and a load more :D
