New free PC shooter

Postby Scapegoat on Thu Jun 21, 2012 11:16 am

An old mate of mine has just released an oldshool vertical shooter on the PC, great fun, very Amiga-esque and most important, free:

Downloaded! I'll give it a go after work.

Thats really good :D Love the music - fits the game well. That 1st boss taking me from behind was a shock though! I died when it popped up - then it killed me again as my ship spawned under it!

Damn hard though :o Maybe I'll have a go on an easier setting

It is damned hard, but it gets easier with a joystick.

Nice graphics.
It's too cheap with the player to be a game I'll put some time into. Bosses are bullet sponges too, very tedious. Good effort if it's a first attempt at a game though.

Have you tried the secondary weapon (hold down gamepad button 2 or LEFT ALT to charge up)?

Didn't even know there was a secondary weapon.
I've deleted it now tbh. I've already got a load of quality freeware shooters and a game has to really stand out for it to be a keeper these days. I don't feel I've wasted my time taking a look at it though. It's a slick game and a decent effort, just a bit generic. It's well worth a look for anybody else who likes the old school gameplay IMO.

Has anyone else tried this yet? What do you think?

*edit: apparently there is a Mac version now too*

The best free PC shmup I've played for a while has to be Time Extended: Extend or Die (www.rgcd.co.uk/2012/06/time-extended-pc.html).

Innovative design, authentic 1990's coin-op visuals and some hardcore boss designs really make this stand out from the crowd.
